Instructions on how watch KCTU TV5
if you are a COX Cable Subscriber!

A Note to you COX cable subscribers
We know that it is frustrating for those of you on COX cable who
want to be able to see our great local programming but cannot.
We have done everything we can to encourage COX carriage to no avail..
In spite of a petition with over 6,000 signatures from their own
subscribers, and testimonials from many City leaders, COX cable has
declined our request for free carriage on their Wichita Cable System.
Their General Manager won't even meet with us.  Instead,
Cox Cable has offered to lease KCTU TV5 a channel on their
Wichita system at a cost of  $70,264  per month.  Due to the fact that
no other local stations carried on the COX system pay any charges
while COX even pays some stations, it is apparent that maybe we are not
 wanted on their system.

We are not the Losers, COX subscribers like you are!
You are missing out on our great local programming and we want
to help you receive what COX wants to keep you  from seeing.
Following are a few tips for you to follow that will enable you to
receive our signal.  And best of all, hooking us up costs little or
nothing and compared those high cable charges !
KCTU TV5 and the 12 other local stations are FREE!

Fact!  KCTU TV5 is licensed by the FCC
(Federal Communications System) to broadcast on Channel 5.
WB KWCV is licensed for ch33 but carried in position 5 on COX Cable.
While position 5 on cable isn't really Channel 5 it does work on the same frequency.
Thus you do not have to make any changes to your TV to receive TV5.
Just make the simple changes in the way your TV is hooked up and enjoy TV5.

Step One:  Go to Radio Shack and tell them you want an "AB" Switch
and a short "F" to "F" co-ax cable.  These should cost less than $10.
Once Installed, these will enable you to switch between cable and FREE TV.

Step Two:  Remove the shielded cable that attaches COX cable to your TVs
"Antenna In" connector. In place of that, attach one end of the co-ax cable
that you bought with the AB switch. Attach the other end to AB switch "out"
connector. .

Step Three:  Attach the COX cable wire that was removed from your TV to the
"B" connector of the "AB" switch. When the "AB" switch is in the "B" position
you will be able to watch COX Cable as before.

Step Four:  Attach some form of an antenna, (Rabbit Ears or Outdoor antenna )
to the "A" terminal of the "AB" switch. When the switch is in the "A" position
you will be able to watch KCTU TV5 or other over-the-air stations.

Note: While Rabbit ears will work in most parts of the city,
we recommend an outside  or attic antenna aimed at the tower
located at Murdock and The Canal Route.  KCTU TV5 and
three other local stations are located there! There are 13 local
over-the-air stations that you can watch FREE! however only
the VHF (channels 2 thru 13) can be received without making
any changes to the  settings of your television set when switching
from cable to free stations.

Step Five: Now Sit back and ENJOY KCTU TV5
