KCTU Business offices and production facilities are located at 2100 East Douglas in downtown Wichita, Kansas.  The KCTU transmitting site is atop the Epic Center at 2nd and North Main in downtow Wichita.

   History: KCTU channel 55 and it's sister station, KSMI channel 51 began broadcasting on August 12, 1992  as KFS55 and KDN51 from their antenna atop the tower on west 53rd St. in Colwich, Kansas.  Business offices were located at the studios just south of Town West Square in West Wichita.  In 1993, the call letters were changed to KCTI for a short period until the FCC discovered that they did in fact have a radio station in southern Texas by the same call letters.  KCTI then became KCTU 55.  In 2003 the FCC notified the stations with channel numbers above 52 that they would have to move to another core channel below channel 52.  KCTU moved to VHF channel 5 where it remained for 6 years until the digital revolution forced another move because of the VHF spectrum being inhospitble to digital to the current channdl 43.  KSMI was sold at that time to an out of state broadcaster.  KCTU now has 4 sub channels (43.1, 43.2, 43.3, 43.4 ) With it's antenna atop the Epic Center the channel 43 broadcast signal contour reaches nearly 50 miles in all directions and affords KCTU the ability to reach over 287,000 homes in South-Central Kansas.   KCTU is licensed to River City Broadcasters Inc. and is Wichita's only locally owned television broadcast station.

Directions to the KCTU business office

KCTU business offices are located just east of the I-135 bypass on East Douglas across from the Wichita East High School west parking lot.. 

When arrving on northbound I-135 exit on the 1st/2nd Street exit and drive east on 1st St. to Ash Street, (approx 200 ft. to the first intersection and turn to the South.  Drive approx. 2blks and you will see the KCTU parking lot on the left (East) side of Ash. (Identifiable by the large satellite dishes).

  When arriving on Southbound I-135 exite at the 1st/2nd Street exit and follow the access road south to 1st Street.  Turn under the i-135 roadway on 1st St. and drive to the first intersection east of the exit ramp. (Ash Street)  Turn South and drive approx 2 blks to the KCTU parking lot on the left side of Ash St.
