With undecideds making up their minds in the last 72 hours, here's my take on what will happen Tuesday:
Mayor--A lot of people are having second thoughts about Carl Brewer and his support from the business community, but people as a whole are so lukewarm about both candidates, I wonder if there will be a difference. I'm still leaning toward Carlos Mayans, but I think Brewer wins, 53-47.
Council District 2--Incumbent Sue Schlapp has been trying to sleepwalk through this one. Elizabeth Bishop has been closing fast, so this one could be too close to call. Schlapp, 51-49.
Council District 4--Election Commissioner Bill Gale (who previously represented this district) moved way too slow on the Michael O'Donnell matter. Les Osterman never had a chance. Incumbent Paul Gray, 84-16.
Council District 5--The nice thing about this is, I don't think there's a bad choice either way. Paul Tobia started out with a stronger campaign and name recognition, but Jeff Longwell is closing fast. Tobia will benefit from low turnout, 52-48.
School Board, Position 1--A no-brainer if there ever was one. Betty Arnold, 65-35.
School Board, Position 3--The taxanoids have been out in full force on this one, trying to lift John Stevens and Cindy Duckett. If that crowd comes out in force, this one could be closer, but I'm going to call it Barb Fuller, 54-46.
School Board, Position 4--This may have been the most cordial race I've seen in 30 years. The two candidates have developed a great friendship, and both have intimated they don't care who wins. Jeff Davis, 52-48.
School Board, At-Large--This is where the anti-tax types come home to roost. Karl Peterjohn knocks off incumbent Kevass Harding 58-42.
